After weeks of intermittent internet, I finally have service again!! Yay! It must be a gift to myself. For more than a year, my internet was slow, but I could do what I needed to do, so I didn’t think much about it. Then it got downright balky. Turns out my internet provider had moved the transponder (that might not be the right word) out of range for me. I wondered why they hadn’t mentioned this while continuing to charge me for internet…
Brisker weather has me thinking about fires…I did promise more photos from my workshop and they are here…
I canceled service with them and alternately used my iPad as a hot spot and rented wifi from a company that I was considering buying permanent access from. Whew. Good thing I tried them out. Their transponder only worked from late morning to, oh, say 10:30 at night. Not good. And it wasn’t very secure and I started to get phishing emails that were quite good, and might have fooled someone less alert to their wiles.
Those phish baiters must think we’re mushrooms. But aren’t these lovely?
Today, I worked from home and waited for the technician to come who would convert me to fiber optic phone and internet. Poor guy was here for three hours running wires and testing, but when he left, I had blazing internet!! Hurray!

So I will try to start posting regularly again. I have yet to put the garden to bed; other things have intervened, so if I can get to that, I’ll let you know what’s up there.

I did some massive baking and granola making on Sunday. Olive oil pumpkin bread and a banana-berry-walnut cake that is now soaking in rum. That latter is going to the office Christmas party. I hope it’s good.
I needed a different setting for this photo, but still like it. These are the rings that once held a barrel together…Lovely light, just a bit too much of it!

The first two photos are my favourites, for different reasons – though I’m durned if I can see mushrooms unless it is those white elliptical bits in the grass…….. Time for new spectacles? Yay for decent internet. It’s good to vote with our dollars against shonky providers when we can too. Nice to see you back 🙂

They are indeed lovely mushrooms. 🙂 Glad you’re back and I hope your internet continues to run smoothly and speedily from now on. I have to deal with the slowness of satellite (which is barely one step above dial-up on some days). Loving that last shot but not as much for the rings (which are great) as much as for the stones on the top of the wall. They look like heads. Easter Island type heads, maybe.

You know, I noticed the Easter island heads thing, too; it’s that break in the fence that makes you see it. Aren’t they called Moa’s or something? In any event, I needed to stop the camera down a bit further than I did, but I loved the light.

Lisa, welcome back. I’m so happy you’re back in business, and with a new and improved internet experience. It sounds like it is long overdue. I’ll bet it flies now. Our service is “mostly” stable, but we seem to have an inordinate number of crashes. I don’t know how I would get by without it.
Your baking sounds wonderful. You are a wiz in the kitchen. Yum!

I have a tendency just to keep what I have, but my cousin and her husband have the most amazing internet, so I knew what was possible. The phone call to arrange it was 2 hours long. That’s one reason I put things off!

That’s an idea for a post, then. This recipe was a brainstorm, so the quantities in the recipe might be a bit dicey. I’ll try it again and report out if it’s good!

It’s baking season again. Thank goodness! The fireplace is at Shrinemont, where I was at the end of October. I took so many photos, I couldn’t share them all!

I can take some sad comfort in hearing that you have slow internet in America too – ours is shocking. They fob us off, saying that we are at the end of a line or some such nonsense. Glad to hear you now have fibre optic – there’s hope for us all!

Sorry about your internet connection/service. Several bloggers have been having spotty access to the internet.
But I love your photos! They all feel so iconic of autumn. All of them.
That outdoor fireplace is a beauty. Is it in your backyard? Gorgeous.

It’s funny how internet can be so problematic. The fireplace is at a retreat center here in Virginia where I had my photo workshop. Now that I won’t be laboring in the garden, I can bake more and maybe do a blog or two on that while it’s cold.

Wasn’t it fun having those photos upload so fast? The colors of the one with the leaves and the mushrooms are great.

Sorry to hear about the Internet problems. We had some of our own this fall which caused us to change providers. Thank goodness for rum-soaked cakes and warming fires!

I hear your pain. When we lived in the country, there was Nil internet until maybe 3AM. We have great internet here since we live very close to downton. Still, I’m seem to always be battling technology. It is not my friend. I get the TV remotes so balled up, nothing works. Then Jim comes home and has to un-botch the calamity..don’t know how he does it. After a update by Apple, my printer doesn’t work….still trying to figure that out. I thought I might just buy a new printer…LOL. So much less painful. Where were these photo’s taken hon? Are you at a retreat?

This was a second group of photos from Shrinemont, where I did the photo workshop. I had said I would put out more of them. Sorry to hear you have internet and tech issues! I try to keep my tech to a minimum and keep it until the software won’t work anymore…As for TV remotes, I’m always lucky to get one of those to work. Thinking of a new printer myself, but I’ve been spending money like crazy lately, so it may have to wait.
